Meatballs in Tomato, Cardamom, and Lime Sauce Recipe
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, cumin, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a walnut.
Place the meatballs on a baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and slightly browned.
While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce.
In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft and translucent.
Stir in the ground cardamom, crushed tomatoes, lime juice, and honey (if using).
Season with salt and pepper, and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes.
Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to absorb the flavours.
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.
